VipCast Case Study 1 (Broadcasting)

VipCast was designed to meet a need for high resolution, low latency and cost efficient transmission.

VipCast uses bespoke encoders to translate video into an IP stream for distribution on the internet using content delivery networks. Global Teleports took on the development in conjunction with “Missing Link Live” in September 2009 and completed successful trials in February 2010 providing the source information via satellite using a 5Watt RF amplifier and 90cM ku band antenna to beam a 1024kBit/s stream to NSS7 satellite and received on our 9.3 metre ku band UK hub and thence into the internet.
